What is Acne?
Acne is a dermatological pathology that has its origin in an abnormal functioning of the pilosebaceous apparatus and that includes both clogged pores (blackheads, pimples, whiteheads), as well as pimples, and deeper protuberances (pustules, cysts and nodules) that they occur on the face, neck, chest, back, and shoulders. Untreated or incorrectly controlled acne, in addition to being extremely annoying, damaging the image of the individual and causing psychological disorders, can lead to the appearance of serious and permanent scars.
Acne Vulgaris is suffered by more than 90% of the population during puberty, disappearing in most cases between 20 and 22 years of age. Men suffer from it more severely, but it is more common in women. We know that 1% of men and 5% of women can continue to suffer from Acne even at age 40, and it is known as Adult Acne.
